Super Bowl 50

Good afternoon everyone.  It's hard for me to believe that it's already Super Bowl Weekend, but it's true.  I haven't watched as much football as I've become accustomed to this season, and this North Country winter has been extremely mild to this point, so it's a little hard for me to fathom that Denver and Carolina are playing for the 50th Super Bowl title two days from now.  Again, I have to thank Joey and Pete for participating in this little venture this season.  It becomes a responsibility to get your picks in each and every week, and it's not easy to put yourself on record.  Luckily for this group, we're all hovering around the .500 mark, and the sports betting pro Joey is on the plus-side.  :)  I've told my brother Pete recently that if I do return to Las Vegas (or any locale) in the future to take another crack at beating the poker tables, I have to be much more thrifty with my sports wagers, because I'm just not beating the book consistently.  Being close to .500 is okay, but it won't pay any bills, and I was much more successful on the felt during my last 2 1/2-month stay in Nevada than I was at betting football.  With that being said, we've got some Super Bowl bets for you, and then I'm going to go research and place my prop wagers for Sunday's big game.  Just baby bets my friends, trust me...  ;)  We'll lead off with Joey, who was this season's winner.  Joey also crushed the NCAA title game and went 4-0 on his NFL Conference Championship picks last week.  Just a little spoiler alert for y'all - there's no chance that more than one of us can be perfect on our picks this week betting the point-spread and totals, and if Denver covers and the total goes over, none of us will be perfect.  Now coming to you live from the Palace Station Sportsbook and Casino, here's Joey...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 4-0/Overall 42-36-2)

Broncos 23  Panthers 16 - Broncos (+5.5) - Under 45

This is the final game of football for the year.  I see one of two things happening...  Denver is able to run the ball and this game will be close.  Second scenario is the Broncos turn the ball over and the Panthers win in a blowout.  I'm gonna go with #18, who's been in the big game several times...  Thanks again to Chris for letting me pick games.  It's been another fun year.  Here's hoping Big Game 50 is a good one and may all your tickets cash!

In a cruel twist of fate for my co-pickers, they'll both have to work on Sunday, while I'll be off.  Super Bowl Sunday tends to be a big day in Las Vegas for some reason.  Go figure...  Not only that, but Pete has been feeling a bit under the weather recently.  Of course he stepped up to the plate with his pick though.  Let's send my brother some good karma for his health as he comes to you live from the Las Vegas Strip, most recently seen somewhere in the vicinity of Bally's, Paris, and Planet Hollywood...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-2/Overall 36-42-2)

Panthers 28  Broncos 20 - Panthers (-5.5) - Over 45

Pete went on his own nice little sports wagering and poker tear right before Joey went on his.  Hopefully my Super Bowl prop bets and the game's outcome will make my Sunday super...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-2/Overall 37-42-1)

Panthers 26  Broncos 17 - Panthers (-5.5) - Under 45

Carolina took down the NFC's reigning-champion Seahawks twice this season, and utterly crushed a decent Cardinals squad last time out.  However, Peyton Manning has been down this road several times, and he got significant rest before the playoffs.  Manning's mastery of the clock, coupled with two solid defenses, should keep this game interesting and lower-scoring, but aside from a hiccup to the Falcons, the Panthers have proved the skeptics wrong every time this season...

And that's it my friends.  As always, our picks are for entertainment purposes only.  After Sunday, our group is going to take a little time off, but you can contiune to follow my writing at my other blogs listed at tbe top of this page.  The links to those three blogs and several of my favorites are also listed on the right side of this page.  If everything goes as planned, Joey, Pete, and myself will be back with our favorite college basketball bets as the NCAA Men's Tournament begins.  If you wish to get your Super Bowl pick on the record, leave your score prediction for Sunday's game below in the comments section.  Other than that, your only homework asignment is to have an Outstanding and Safe Super Bowl Weekend!
