Football Thursday (2015 - Week 4)

Good afternoon everyone.  It was a rough football weekend for those of us here at the Parlay Card a week ago.  Joey, Pete, and myself went a collective 2-7 on our football bets here last week.  I would venture to wager that you won't see a worse combined record from us for the rest of the season.  Due to personal obligations that I have tomorrow and Saturday, I wanted to get our bets for this weekend published today, and Joey and Pete were kind enough to expedite their selections for me.  Since Joey is still our overall leader, he will again lead things off for us.  Live from the Palace Station Sportsbook & Casino iu Las Vegas, here's Joey...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Season 4-4-1)

Navy (-7) @ Connecticut
Raiders (+3.5) @ Browns
Bears (+15) @ Seahawks

Discipline is the key to winning at sports betting.  This week there are lots of games to choose from, so let's see if we can narrow it down to three.

Navy (-7) - The Midshipmen run the ball better than anyone else as QB Keenan Reynolds owns the NCAA record of 70 TD's.
Raiders (+3.5) - QB Derek Carr woke the offense up last week.  The defense is still suspect, but Cleveland has neither.  Johnny Fooseball is back on the bench.
Bears (+15) - The Bears are banged up on offense and defense right now.  Seattle is 0-2 and hungry for a win.  It's those factors that the general public thinks will make this game a blowout, but remember, this is the NFL!!!

Good luck and may all your tickets cash!

And now I'm up.  I felt strongly about LSU (-6.5) vs. Auburn after seeing Jacksonville State go toe-to-toe with Auburn the week before, but that was the game that I omitted from my three best bets. Unfortunately for me, Missouri didn't come close to covering (-21) vs. U. Conn, and the Rams were a no-show at Washington.  SO..., in spite of my Steelers pick coming through here and propelling me to first in Lucki Duck's contest, I went 1-2 for the second straight week.  Let's see if we can turn that around...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Season 4-5)

Texas State/Houston (Over 71.5) - Bobcat games have had video game scores this season...
Steelers/Rams (Over 47.5) - Pittsburgh offense and lack of defense means another track meet...
Falcons/Cowboys (Under 45) - Romo is out and Dallas has solid D - where do points come from?

Now it's my brother's turn, and he's still itching for his first winning week of the season.  As he was the first person to submit his selections today, even before I had a chance to tell him that I wanted his bets a day early, I suspect that he's ready for the weekend to kick off.  Live from the Bally's, Paris, and/or Planet Hollywood Sportbooks in Las Vegas, here's Pete...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 0-3/Season 2-7)

Illinois (-6) vs. Middle Tennessee State University
Oklahoma State/Texas (Over 59.5)
Cowboys (+1.5) vs. Falcons

As always, these picks of ours are for entertainment purposes only (a fact that should be clearly evident after last week)...  No guarantees here, but we hope that you have a great football weekend and we'll see you again next Friday!

Football Friday (2015 - Week 3)

Good afternoon everyone.  I hope that you're enjoying the start of this season as much as I am.  I went to sleep early on the Giants/Cowboys game earlier in the week, but I witnessed the ending of the Broncos/Chiefs matchup last night - WOW...  Let me again remind you as I type up these picks that they're for entertainment purposes only - there are no guarantees here.  If you did bet with anyone's selections last week, I hope that you went with Joey, as he was 2-0-1 for the week, and is now our overall leader.  Without any further ado, live from the Palace Station Sportsbook & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, here's Joey...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-0-1/Season 3-2-1)

Duke (-3) vs. Northwestern
Cardinals (-2) @ Bears
Giants (-2.5) vs. Falcons

Picking teams became a little bit harder for the NFL's Week 2.  Teams that were supposed to win in Week 1 did not while others looked spectacular.  Normally I like to bet against the teams that won in Week 1 and with the teams that lost.  The teams that lost seem to play harder and no team want to be 0-2.

Duke (-3) - The Blue Devil program is looking good and Duke is my team to win the ACC.
Cardinals (-2) - Change of coaches has not helped Jay Cutler or the bad Bears defense.
Giants (-2.5) - The G-Men gave away last week's game and Atlanta comes off a Monday night win (it fits perfect into a Week 2 play).

That's all for this week's picks.  May all your tickets cash!

And now it's my turn.  I could spend a while telling you how I was about to win my Alabama pick last week when they threw an interception deep in Middle Tennessee State territory (because EVERYONE LOVES hearing bad beat stories, right?), OR I could just tell you that I went 1-2 and give you my picks for this weekend...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Season 3-3)

Missouri (-21) vs. Connecticut - The Huskies have edged two unranked teams not from the SEC...
Steelers (-6) vs. 49ers - Well-rested Steelers host weary and jet-lagged Niners...
Rams (-3) @ Redskins - After beating the Seahawks, Rams only lay 3 to this team?  Thanks...

A season record of 6-3 is written all over those picks, huh?  ;)  And now it's my brother's turn, as he tries to put together his first winning week of the season.  Live from the Paris, Bally's, and/or Planet Hollywood sportsbooks in Las Vegas, here's Pete...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 1/2/Season 2-4)

Oklahoma (-30) vs. Tulsa
Kansas State (-9.5) vs. Louisiana Tech
Titans (+2.5) @ Browns

On Pete's Titans pick, I'm assuming that he made his bet when Tennessee opened as the underdog, so you probably won't find that line today.  For the first time this season, our experts here picked nine different bets, so hopefully we'll post a mark of 9-0 this weekend...  Have a great football weekend and we'll see you next Friday!

Sunday, September 13, 2015

Good morning everyone.  A much different day for me today compared to last year at this time.  A year ago on the opening Sunday of the NFL season, I was in Las Vegas preparing for Grrouchie to pick me up and drive us to the theater at the Westgate Casino so that we could watch the buffet of NFL action.  As I linked to Grrouchie's blog right there, I noticed that he hasn't published a blog entry in five months, so it's not just my life that's different now...  :)  I'm sitting at my computer closely monitoring our weekend bets for this blog.  Currently this week, my brother and I are both sitting at 1-1, while Joey is 0-0-1, earning our first tie of the season with his pick of Michigan State (-3) over Oregon.

Alright, that's all that I've got for you on this lovely Sunday.  Have a great day enjoying all of the games and I'll see you soon!

Football Friday (2015 - Week 2)

Good afternoon everyone.  Well, one week is already in the books - the football season is officially underway.  None of our experts went undefeated last week, but no one lost all three games either.  We're back again today to take a crack at this weekend's games.  As always, these picks are for entertainment purposes only and are by no means guarantees.  Since I'm the overall leader at this point (and it may be the only time this season), I'll lead off this week...  :D

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-1/Season 2-1)

BYU (+2.5) vs. Boise State - Surprised that the Cougars are getting points at home...
Alabama (-35) vs. Middle Tennessee State - I just need Bama to keep their foot on the gas pedal...
Cowboys (-6) vs. Giants - Lots of talent in Big D for this primetime opener...

Since Pete and Joey both had the same record last week and we led off with Joey, we'll put Pete in the second slot this week.  Coming to you live from the Paris, Bally's, and Planet Hollywood sportsbooks in Las Vegas, here's Pete...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Season 1-2)

Western Michigan (-4) @ Georgia Southern
Air Force (-6) vs. San Jose State
Eagles (-3) @ Falcons

Pete seems to have opinions on all sorts of Falcons this weekend...  :)  And now running the anchor leg this week, coming live to you from the Palace Station sportsbook in Las Vegas, here's Joey...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Season 1-2)

Michigan State (-3) vs. Oregon
Titans (+3) @ Buccaneers
Giants (+6) @ Cowboys

Michigan State (-3) - Best team in the Big Ten.  They will win the whole thing if they stay on track.  Spartans win 35-10.
Titans (+3) - It's the battle of Heisman candidates.  One guy has looked good, the other has been a deer in headlights.  Tennessee wins outright 27-17.
Giants (+6) - This is a two-fold play.  First, it's a play against the general public.  Second, it's the late game just in case I need to lay off to make money no matter what happens.

Good luck and may all your tickets cash!

And those are our bets for this weekend.  Joey went up against my brother in one bet last week, and he opposes me on another this week.  Well, I hope that our group goes 8-1 for the weekend...  :)  Have a great football weekend and we'll see you next week!

Football Is Back (2015 - Wk.1)

Good afternoon everyone.  There are plenty of games to choose from on the college landscape this weekend, and this season we have a trio of prognosticators throwing darts at the dartboard and giving you our picks.  These picks used to come to you from my original blog, Bikini Hill, 6th, & The Strip.  I decided to move our predictions here because Bikini Hill was becoming a blog about everything.  If you're interested at all about who I am, my personal life, etc.., feel free to click on the link above and check out that blog.

It is again my intention to post here every Friday of the football season.  The three of us (my friend Joey, my brother Pete, and myself) will each select three games each week to forecast (either against the spread, or in regard to the total - over/under).  Picking only three games apiece will hopefully give us a respectable winning percentage.  It is our intention to give you picks on every college and NFL playoff game once that time of the season arrives.  Regardless, these are by no means guarantees, so if you wager, do so with caution...  Our trio was free to choose from any this weekend's college football matchups, and this is what we came up with...

Joey writes tickets at the Palace Station Sportsbook, and these are his three favorite bets for the opening weekend of college action...

Joey's Parlay Card (Season 0-0)

Texas (+9.5) @ Notre Dame
Old Dominion (-4.5) @ Eastern Michigan
Louisville (+10.5) @ Auburn

Joey decided to leave you with a few words this week (which I always leave up to my sharps)...

I am starting off dog heavy this year, so we shall see what happens.  I still work for Palace Station, so come by and say hi, and may all your tickets cash!

My brother Pete didn't have any words for you this week after working a late shift last night, but I expect that he'll have something to say to you in the future.  Like Joey, Pete also lives in Las Vegas, and is splitting shift between the sportsbooks at Bally's, Paris, and Planet Hollywood.  These are Pete's selections for this weekend...

Pete's Parlay Card (Season 0-0)

Notre Dame (-9.5) vs. Texas
Northern Illinois (-22.5) vs. UNLV
Arizona State/Texas A&M (Over 67)

Now for the only guy here who doesn't work in a Vegas sportsbook...

And this is what I came up for Week 1...

Coach's Parlay Card (Season 0-0)

Texas/Notre Dame (Under 51.5) - Better defenses than offenses here...
Nebraska (-6.5) vs. BYU - The Cornhuskers are getting the Cougars in Lincoln...
Alabama (-11) vs. Wisconsin - The stage in Arlington may be too big for the Badgers...

Enjoy your college football this weekend, and come back next week to praise and/or ridicule us...  ;)  Have a great football weekend everyone!
