Sweet 16 Picks (2015)

Good evening everyone.  Joey and I are back to share our picks for the rest of this year's NCAA Tournament.  Starting with our 'Sweet 16' picks tonight, we'll have score predictions for the rest of the tourney's games for you.  I'll also tell you what these scores mean when compared to the "Vegas lines" and the totals (overs/unders) - and that's the important thing anyway, right?  ;) Remember that our picks are just for your entertainment - none of these are guaranteed...  Gonna use my own photo here, though I don't know if I should.  Not sure if I'm going to want to claim these picks...

Coach's NCAA '15 Picks - (0-0)

Notre Dame 65  Wichita State 62 - Notre Dame (+2)/Under 138
Should be a great game.  You'll notice this starts a trend of me picking the underdog and the 'under' in a lot of these games...

North Carolina 70  Wisconsin 66 - North Carolina (+6)/Under 145
I foresee another great game here.  I think UNC will dicate a higher-scoring game than some (like Joey) believe we'll see...

West Virginia 75  Kentucky 71 - West Virginia (+13.5)/Over 136.5
If you're unaware, I have predicted that Kentucky won't go 40-0 and win the title this year.  That being said, I'll pick against them every game from here on out (if they're involved in more), because I'm not sure who will beat them, but I believe that the SEC was pretty weak and that Kentucky will lose.  The ACC has five teams in the final sixteen, the SEC one - just saying...

Arizona 70  Xavier 65 - Xavier (+11)/Under 136.5
The reason that I'm taking all these underdogs is because there are so many upsets and close games in the tourney.  Arizona (for example) is good, but I don't see them covering eleven.  Back to Kentucky, the Wildcats haven't covered in their first pair of games...

UCLA 73  Gonzaga 71 - UCLA (+8.5)/Under 146
I think that Gonzaga is more overrated than Kentucky.  Don't get me wrong, I think Kentucky is good, but they'd surely have losses with an ACC schedule, right?  Gonzaga..., well, don't get me started on their conference.  Again, don't know if the Bruins beat them, but I have to pick against them every time, on principle...

North Carolina State 53  Louisville 48 - N.C. State (+2.5)/Under 130
Impressive Wolfpack team.  I don't know everything about them, but I remember them DRUMMING the Tar Heels this year (by like 40), and they just beat Villanova, so...  Plus they get points - go Wolfpack!

Duke 78  Utah 71 - Duke (-5.5)/Over 134.5
I think the West Virginia pressing will cause the Kentucky game to go over, and this is my other over.  I think that Duke will influence the scoring in this game, and cover as the favorite - only the Blue Devils and the Spartans covering in my group...

Michigan State 61  Oklahoma 57 - Michigan State (-2.5)/Under 134.5
I liked the winner of the MSU/Virginia game to win this region.  Now the top pair of seeds are even gone (well, the Spartans took care of half of that).  Gotta go with Coach Izzo...

And that's all of the damage that I can do for the next two days.  Now coming live to you from the Palace Station Sportsbook in Las Vegas, here's my friend Joey to give you his thoughts.  By the way, these lines and totals come courtesy of the Stations Casinos in Vegas (in honor of Joey)...

March Madness has once again been crazy.  The crowds at Palace have been wonderful and this is my second favorite time of year, favorite being Super Bowl.  The fight coming up in a little over a month will be busy, but I love the weather and basketball this time of year.  Here are my Sweet 16 picks...

Joey's NCAA '15 Picks - (0-0)

Wichita State 68  Notre Dame 51 - Wichita State (-2)/Under 138
Wisconsin 55  North Carolina 51 - North Carolina (+6)/Under 145
Kentucky 74  West Virginia 63 - West Virginia (+13.5)/Over 136.5
Arizona 78  Xavier 57 - Arizona (-11)/Under 136.5
Gonzaga 88  UCLA 46 - Gonzaga (-8.5)/Under 146
North Carolina State 67  Louisville 62 - N.C. State (+2.5)/Under 130
Utah 55  Duke 53 - Utah (+5.5)/Under 134.5
Oklahoma 65  Michigan State 62 - Oklahoma (+2)/Under 134.5

Good luck and may all your tickets cash!

You can see where Joey and myself have fundamental differences regarding this little basketball tournament...  :)  I hope that you enjoy the rest of your workweek, and Joey and I will be back before Saturday's games.

  1. Ummm ... no Wisconsin love, huh? The one team that can beat Kentucky ...

    1. I foresaw a great game, and it was Lightning. Nice to know you think Kentucky isn't invincible... :D
