Elite 8 Picks (2015)

Good afternoon everyone.  This is coming to you a little bit later than I had anticipated, but it has predictions for the whole weekend as opposed to just today (which I wasn't counting on).  I turned in a 7-9 record for the last 2 days, while Joey came in at 5-11.  My shining moments were picking Arizona to beat Xavier 70-65 (Final 68-60 Arizona) and predicting Michigan State to down Oklahoma 61-57 (Final 62-58).  Four of Joey's five wins were on totals (overs/unders) in the Arizona, Gonzaga, Michigan State, and Duke games.  Now onto our picks for the 'Elite Eight' round...

Coach's NCAA '15 Picks (Overall 7-9)

Arizona 68  Wisconsin 62 - Arizona (-1)/Under 131.5
This should be an excellent matchup.  I'm not surprised to see these teams meet here as I put money on both to win the whole tourney (at 8 to 1) before it began.  The fact that the game is in Los Angeles has me leaning toward the Wildcats.

Notre Dame 65  Kentucky 60 - Notre Dame (+11)/Under 137
I've been waiting for this round to begin since the brackets came out, as it looks like this is Kentucky's first real chance for a loss.  I still think Kentucky had a favorable schedule, but I don't think they're going to be thinking of West Virginia when they face an Irish team that beat both Duke and North Carolina at the ACC Tourney in Greensboro.  I really like the Irish getting the eleven points.  I have the Irish at 9 to 1 to win this region - GO IRISH!  ;)

Michigan State 58  Louisvile 49 - Michigan State (-2.5)/Under 128.5
"Wow, it seems like Coach likes the unders again in this round..."  Yep, I do.  Not sure if the game will be quite this low-scoring, but I like the Spartans with a lower score than 128.5 here...

Duke 71  Gonzaga 63 - Duke (-2.5)/Under 144.5
What I said about Kentucky, well, the same for Gonzaga.  Weaker pre-tourney schedule, favorable first three games, but you better lace 'em up now boys...  I think that Duke brings too much to the table here...

And now for a somewhat differing view of this weekend's action, live from the Palace Station Sportsbook & Casino, here's Joey...

It has been a fun week betting wise.  College basketball can be frustrating like Georgetown scoring for no reason with one second left to push the total over, or like Friday night can be fun when Duke is called out of the locker room and hits a free throw to cover the spread.  Either way it's what makes betting on college basketball fun...

Joey's NCAA '15 Picks (Overall 5-11)

Arizona 77  Wisconsin 65 - Arizona (-1)/Over 131.5
Kentucky 73  Notre Dame 55 - Kentucky (-11)/Under 137
Michigan State 63  Louisville 59 - Michigan State (-2.5)/Under 128.5
Gonzaga 54  Duke 47 - Gonzaga (+2.5)/Under 144.5

The games may not be exciting this weekend, but when money's involved, it's one of the greatest times of the year.  When you bet, come see me at Palace Station in Las Vegas.  Good luck and may all your tickets cash!

And there you have it.  I think that watching Kentucky and Gonzaga lose will be exciting, but we shall see...  :)  Have a great basketball weekend and we'll see you soon!

Sweet 16 Picks (2015)

Good evening everyone.  Joey and I are back to share our picks for the rest of this year's NCAA Tournament.  Starting with our 'Sweet 16' picks tonight, we'll have score predictions for the rest of the tourney's games for you.  I'll also tell you what these scores mean when compared to the "Vegas lines" and the totals (overs/unders) - and that's the important thing anyway, right?  ;) Remember that our picks are just for your entertainment - none of these are guaranteed...  Gonna use my own photo here, though I don't know if I should.  Not sure if I'm going to want to claim these picks...

Coach's NCAA '15 Picks - (0-0)

Notre Dame 65  Wichita State 62 - Notre Dame (+2)/Under 138
Should be a great game.  You'll notice this starts a trend of me picking the underdog and the 'under' in a lot of these games...

North Carolina 70  Wisconsin 66 - North Carolina (+6)/Under 145
I foresee another great game here.  I think UNC will dicate a higher-scoring game than some (like Joey) believe we'll see...

West Virginia 75  Kentucky 71 - West Virginia (+13.5)/Over 136.5
If you're unaware, I have predicted that Kentucky won't go 40-0 and win the title this year.  That being said, I'll pick against them every game from here on out (if they're involved in more), because I'm not sure who will beat them, but I believe that the SEC was pretty weak and that Kentucky will lose.  The ACC has five teams in the final sixteen, the SEC one - just saying...

Arizona 70  Xavier 65 - Xavier (+11)/Under 136.5
The reason that I'm taking all these underdogs is because there are so many upsets and close games in the tourney.  Arizona (for example) is good, but I don't see them covering eleven.  Back to Kentucky, the Wildcats haven't covered in their first pair of games...

UCLA 73  Gonzaga 71 - UCLA (+8.5)/Under 146
I think that Gonzaga is more overrated than Kentucky.  Don't get me wrong, I think Kentucky is good, but they'd surely have losses with an ACC schedule, right?  Gonzaga..., well, don't get me started on their conference.  Again, don't know if the Bruins beat them, but I have to pick against them every time, on principle...

North Carolina State 53  Louisville 48 - N.C. State (+2.5)/Under 130
Impressive Wolfpack team.  I don't know everything about them, but I remember them DRUMMING the Tar Heels this year (by like 40), and they just beat Villanova, so...  Plus they get points - go Wolfpack!

Duke 78  Utah 71 - Duke (-5.5)/Over 134.5
I think the West Virginia pressing will cause the Kentucky game to go over, and this is my other over.  I think that Duke will influence the scoring in this game, and cover as the favorite - only the Blue Devils and the Spartans covering in my group...

Michigan State 61  Oklahoma 57 - Michigan State (-2.5)/Under 134.5
I liked the winner of the MSU/Virginia game to win this region.  Now the top pair of seeds are even gone (well, the Spartans took care of half of that).  Gotta go with Coach Izzo...

And that's all of the damage that I can do for the next two days.  Now coming live to you from the Palace Station Sportsbook in Las Vegas, here's my friend Joey to give you his thoughts.  By the way, these lines and totals come courtesy of the Stations Casinos in Vegas (in honor of Joey)...

March Madness has once again been crazy.  The crowds at Palace have been wonderful and this is my second favorite time of year, favorite being Super Bowl.  The fight coming up in a little over a month will be busy, but I love the weather and basketball this time of year.  Here are my Sweet 16 picks...

Joey's NCAA '15 Picks - (0-0)

Wichita State 68  Notre Dame 51 - Wichita State (-2)/Under 138
Wisconsin 55  North Carolina 51 - North Carolina (+6)/Under 145
Kentucky 74  West Virginia 63 - West Virginia (+13.5)/Over 136.5
Arizona 78  Xavier 57 - Arizona (-11)/Under 136.5
Gonzaga 88  UCLA 46 - Gonzaga (-8.5)/Under 146
North Carolina State 67  Louisville 62 - N.C. State (+2.5)/Under 130
Utah 55  Duke 53 - Utah (+5.5)/Under 134.5
Oklahoma 65  Michigan State 62 - Oklahoma (+2)/Under 134.5

Good luck and may all your tickets cash!

You can see where Joey and myself have fundamental differences regarding this little basketball tournament...  :)  I hope that you enjoy the rest of your workweek, and Joey and I will be back before Saturday's games.

The Final 24

Good morning everyone.  Actually publishing this one right after the end of the Notre Dame/Butler game on Saturday night.  I've also updated my records since the start of this blog - WHAT IS GOING ON???  :)  Okay, here are my picks for Sunday's games...  As always, for entertainment purposes only (if you can't gather that from the 19-29 overall record)...

Last Session (2-2) - Overall Record (19-29)

Michigan State/Virginia (Over 117)
Northern Iowa/Louisville (Over 117)

Yep, taking aim at those low totals on Sunday...  Have a great basketball Sunday and I'll see you soon!

Saturday Madness

Good afternoon everyone.  I've been really busy with my new job, but I'm going to try to update my record here today, as well as posting at all of my other blogs... 'Bikini Hill, 6th, & The Strip  'Coach Goes Viral' & Three Chips Poker  Let me give you a few of my basketball picks for today since you're here...

Last Session (0-3) - Overall Record (17-27)

Cincinnati (+17) vs. Kentucky - W
Cincinnati/Kentucky (Over 119) - I like making this pair of bets together because I think it's unlikely that Kentucky could cover 17 and keep the total under 119. - L
Utah/Georgetown (Over 124) - W
Arkansas/North Carolina (Under 157) - L

Okay, time to prepare posts for my other blogs.  Have a great day of basketball and I'll see you tomorrow!

NCAA Tourney Props

Good evening everyone.  No individual wagers tonight, but I've got my prop bets for this year's NCAA Tourney.  You'll notice when you read these that I omitted some teams that I took to win it all from the regional winner bets - the poor odds didn't justify wagering on these teams to win their regions.  In other instances, I took a shot on teams winning their region, but not to win it all.  These are the teams that I put a buck on to win their region...

Last Session (0-3) - Overall Record (17-27)

Buffalo - 150/1
West Virginia - 50/1
Maryland - 33/1
Texas - 25/1
Wichita State - 10/1
Kansas - 10/1
Notre Dame - 9/1...  This whole group has better odds because they're in Kentucky's region...

Iowa State - 11/2

Baylor - 12/1
North Carolina - 10/1

Michigan State - 9/1

And to win it all...

Buffalo - 500/1
Oregon - 300/1
Texas - 100/1
Baylor - 50/1
Wichita State - 50/1
North Carolina - 40/1
Michigan State - 40/1
Iowa State - 28/1
Notre Dame - 25/1
Virginia - 12/1
Duke - 9/1
Wisconsin - 8/1
Arizona - 8/1

I blogged earlier about my belief that both Kentucky and Gonzaga are overrated here if you're wondering why I didn't include them in my wagers.  They both played in weaker conferences (especially Gonzaga, obviously), and I don't think they're going all the way.  Enjoy your madness and I'll see you soon...

Saturday Funday

Good afternoon everyone.  I definitely have to update the records today after going 3-1 here yesterday (and missing a push on that Cavs/Hawks game by 1 point).  It took me much longer to make my picks for the day than I anticipated, but I found a few bets where action hasn't started yet...

Last Session (3-1) - Overall Record (9-18)

Kansas/Oklahoma (Over 142) - W
Kansas State (+10) @ Texas - L
Virginia/Louisville (Over 112) - W
Nevada/San Diego State (Over 117) - L

Friday Night Hoops

Good afternoon everyone.  Although football will easily bring the most views here, I will start "promoting" this new little blog of mine soon.  For the few who have managed to find this page on their own already though, I'm back to provide you with some more questionable picks tonight.  After all, I have the 'Sweet Sixteen' to get ready for.  My friend Joey and myself will be providing you with some NCAA basketball predictions very soon.  I should get my stellar record up to now updated over the weekend.  Here are my picks for tonight...

Last Session (2-1) - Overall Record (6-17)

Texas Tech/Baylor (Over 121) - W
Belmont/Eastern Kentucky (Under 143) - W

Maybe Tonight

Good evening everyone.  I'll retroactively update my wins/losses (losses) in my previous posts, but I thought that I'd give you my stellar picks for tonight.  Maybe there will even be a winner in this bunch...  Again, this is for entertainment purposes only...  ;)

Last Session (0-3) - Overall Record (4-16)

Stars/Panthers (Over 5.5) - W
Mavericks/Blazers (Over 198) - L
Stanford/Arizona State (Under 140) - W

Okay, that's enough for now.  I'm going to put some work into my other blogs tonight (I think)...  Have a good one!

Hockey, Hockey

Good afternoon everyone.  Due to a busy weekend following a busy week last week, I've spent a couple of days getting my feet back under me.  I still have to go back and update a very unsuccessful Saturday post (results-wise), although I did great on my picks Sunday that I didn't post here (sure you did Coach)...  Here's what I have for tonight...

Last Session (4-10) - Overall Record (4-13)

Sabres/Lightning (Over 5.5) - L
Islanders (-1.5) @ Stars - L
Kentucky (-9.5) @ Georgia - L

Obviously, these are just for your entertainment.  Watching me miss is entertaining, isn't it?  :)  Enjoy your night and I'll see you soon...
