Super Bowl 52

Good evening everyone.  This is it boys and girls.   One game left.  Thank you for following along again over the course of this football season.  This blog had been viewed a total of 11,185 times before the season began, and that number is now at 15,561.  Speaking of numbers, our little group was all over the Patriots/Jaguars score last week.  The final was Patriots 24  Jaguars 20.  Joey had the Pats winning 28-20, Pete had the final being 24-21 (he just had the teams reversed), and I had the Jaguars winning 27-23.  I'm just saying, if that Jaguars fumble return wasn't blown dead, the Jags would have had a 27-10 lead early in the fourth quarter...   ;)  My thanks go out to Joey and Pete for again providing me with their favorite weekly bets.  Joey has been a great friend to me, and Pete has been a great brother.  Before we reveal our predictions, let me once again remind you that our picks are for entertainment purposes only.  Sunday, February 4th, Super Bowl 52, matching New England and Philadelphia.  Here we go...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-3/Overall 37-41-2)

Eagles 31  Patriots 24 - Eagles (+4.5)/Over 48

Ok.  It’s the final game of the football season.  The line opened at 6 and has dropped to Patriots -4.5.  Normally I bet against this line drop and would take patriots, but I still think the Eagles have the best offensive line in football, and the defense has stepped up with the loss of Carson Wentz.  As long as Nick Foles doesn’t make a big mistake, the Eagles win this game.  That’s all for this football season.  Come by the Palace Station sports book to watch the Big Game, and may all your parleys cash

Joey and Pete gave me their scores on the same day, and they're scary close to each other.  This would be a good time to remind you that Pete picked the EXACT SCORE of last year's Super Bowl...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-2/Overall 23-54-3)

Eagles 34  Patriots 31 - Eagles (+4.5)/Over 48

Joey and Pete both have the Eagles pulling off the upset outright, with the score flying over the total.  I see a little lower-scoring game, and...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-3)/Overall 40-38-2)

Eagles 24  Patriots 23 - Eagles (+4.5)/Under 48 - If the Patriots don't have the good fortune of the aforementioned Jacksonville fumble return being blown dead, I don't think they'd even be in this game, but alas, here they are.  The Eagles were not supposed to be here after Carson Wentz went down to injury, but alas, here they are.  The Eagles defense has slammed the door shut on the Falcons and the Vikings, and I think they'll help keep this game under the total.  Philly has been an underdog since the moment Wentz was injured, and while the Patriots continued to lead a charmed postseason life last Sunday, I think the Eagles will find a way to grind out their first Super Bowl victory...

And that's all my friends.  I've got one joke for you before we say goodbye...

Q:  Where do Superman's goldfish live?
A:  In the SUPER BOWL...

Feel free to wear that one out, because I'll be using it all weekend at work.  :)  Have a great Super Bowl Weekend everyone!!!

Conference Championship Weekend - 2018

Good morning everyone.  We're two weeks and a day away from another Super Bowl.  As I sit here typing this at 6:22 a.m., I find myself with a dilemma, as Joey had sent me his scores before the line changed on the Jaguars/Patriots game.  Joey had intended to take the Jags as an underdog, but with the line movement, his score prediction has him taking the Pats to cover.  Ultimately, it doesn't cost him any money, because I don't pay very well  :D , but I just wanted to make a note of that...  We'll lead off with Joey's picks as the NFL's "semifinal round" awaits...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 3-5/Overall 36-38-2)

Another football season is a couple of weeks from being finished.  The playoffs have had some crazy endings.  The dogs have gotten me this far, so I'm gonna use them one final week.

Patriots 28  Jaguars 20 - Patriots (-7.5)/Over 46.5
Eagles 21  Vikings 10 - Eagles (+3)/Under 39

Come watch the conference championship games at the all new Palace Station Race & Sports Book, and may all your parlays cash!

According to Facebook activity (or inactivity), it seems that Joey is still sleeping (who is still sleeping before 7:00 a.m.?), so instead of waking him up to ask if he wanted to change his score to align with the Jags, I'll go with this for now...  Pete likes the Jags even more than Joey, but they disagree in the NFC...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-6/Overall 21-52-3)

Jaguars 24  Patriots 21 - Jaguars (+7.5)/Under 46.5
Vikings 21  Eagles 17 - Vikings (-3)/Under 39

I had a rough go of it a week ago, and I don't have any idea what's going to happen this week (seems like the theme for this season...  :D).  Here's my two cents though...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-7/Overall 39-35-2)

Jaguars 27  Patriots 23 - Jaguars (+7.5)/Over 46.5 - I think there's a good chance that the stars align against the Patriots on Sunday.  The temperature is forecast to stay above freezing, which should benefit the visiting Jags.  Brady has something going on with his hand, which has the spectre of the Garoppolo trade looming in the air.  The coordinators may/may not be distracted with future job opportunities.  There's just a lot of STUFF going on, and a Jaguar team that would like nothing more than to shock the world...

Vikings 22  Eagles 16 - Vikings (-3)/Under 39 - The weather doesn't do the home team any favors again, as it's supposed to stay above freezing for the dome team from Minnesota.  The Vikings really put the brakes on a very talented Saints offense with a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback, which makes me wonder what's in store for Foles and the Eagles.

And that's all we've got for you.  Again, remember that our picks are for entertainment purposes only.  Enjoy what should be an intriguing day of football Sunday and we'll see you again for the Super Bowl.  :)

Football (2017-18) - Divisional Weekend 2018

Good morning everyone.  Eight teams left.  It's gonna be a much different world on Monday, February 5th when we don't have any football for months and months and months, but let's not dwell on the negative right now.  We have a great weekend of games ahead, and I should be sleeping already, so let's begin.  Joey went 8-2 last week, and when I contacted him yesterday morning about sending his scores during the day, he not only responded immediately, but said that he had his picks ready pretty much since Tuesday.  Overachiever...  : )

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 8-2/Overall 33-33-2)

I am sticking with more dogs this week, even though the average margin of victory is two touchdowns...

Eagles 31  Falcons 21 - Eagles (+3)/Over 41.5
Patriots 28  Titans 22 - Titans (+13.5)/Over 47.5
Steelers 28  Jaguars 10 - Steelers (-7)/Under 41
Vikings 27  Saints 24 - Saints (+4.5)/Over 46.5

May all your parlays cash!

Joey and Pete have two different outright winners for you, and many more different bets when you account for the lines and totals...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 4-6/Overall 19-46-3)

Falcons 24  Eagles 16 - Falcons (-3)/Under 41.5
Patriots 27  Titans 18 - Titans (+13.5)/Under 47.5
Steelers 17  Jaguars 14 - Jaguars (+7)/Under 41
Saints 24  Vikings 21 - Saints (+4.5)/Under 46.5

I'll be cheering for Pete this week, because all but one of our bets are the same...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 6-4/Overall 38-28-2)

Falcons 23  Eagles 17 - Falcons (-3)/Under 41.5 - Falcons have the playoff experience and the more experienced quarterback.  Philly weather and cautious play-calling should keep total under...

Patriots 27  Titans 17 - Titans (+13.5)/Under 47.5 - The Pats have not been blowing out many teams this season, and Titans should give them a good dose of Henry to shorten the game.  Freezing temps and a steady breeze should help to keep the total under...

Steelers 24  Jaguars 14 - Steelers (-7)/Under 41 - Jaguars beat Steelers by 21 early this season, but 14 of the 21-point margin of victory were a result of "pick sixes," 2 of 5 INT's that Big Ben threw on the day.  Even with those scores, the final was only 30-9, under this game's total.  Ben probably won't feel so charitable on Sunday, and the Steelers D will probably force Bortles to beat them.  Expect a hard-hitting start to your Sunday morning...

Saints 23  Vikings 20 - Saints (+4.5)/Under 46.5 - I have to give the nod to the more experienced QB again, and Coach Payton has shared in a lot of that success with Mr. Brees.  The Vikings could be playing for home-field THROUGH the Super Bowl by kickoff, and I expect a battle regardless...

And that's all my friends.  As always, remember our picks are for entertainment purposes only.  Have an outstanding football weekend everyone!

Football (2017-18) - Wild Card Weekend 2018

Good morning everyone.  This is the time of year when it takes a really freakin long time to do these blog posts.  Oh, Happy New Year!  Ten bets apiece from each of us, as we give you our score predictions for all of this weekend's NFL playoff games, and Monday's CFB Championship Game.  Joey went 4-3 last week, and will lead things off for us...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 4-3/Overall 25-31-2)

Okay.  Last year all home favorites covered in the first round, but most lines were very short or an outright pick 'em.  This year it's a touchdown or better for the first round, so I like all dogs...  A money line parlay of all home favorites would be a good bet also.

As for the National Champinship Game, I'm again going with the Dawg.

Chiefs 17  Titans 14 - Titans (+9)/Under 44.5
Rams 24  Falcons 21 - Falcons (+5.5)/Under 48
Jaguars 31  Bills 24 - Bills (+9)/Over 39
Saints 28  Panthers 27 - Panthers (+6.5)/Over 47.5
Georgia 27  Alabama 14 - Georgia (+4)/Under 44.5

New Mexico State wins its first bowl game in 57 years, so it's party time in Las Cruces.  Til next week, may all your parlays cash!

As I was compiling scores for this post, I had to do a double-take as Joey and Pete agreed on an exact score, but although they also have all of the same NFL teams advancing, their bets differ substantially.  Pete would like you to ignore his record for last week's bets, and instead refer back to last year's perfect Super Bowl prediction...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-6/Overall 15-40-3)

Chiefs 17  Titans 14 - Titans (+9)/Under 44.5
Rams 38  Falcons 31 - Rams (-5.5)/Over 48
Jaguars 27  Bills 17 - Jaguars (-9)/Over 39
Saints 35  Panthers 28 - Saints (-6.5)/Over 47.5
Alabama 31  Georgia 20 - Alabama (-4)/Over 44.5

I went 5-2 on my bets here last week, and am left wondering why I didn't bet more money on them.  I am the only one in our group to pick an underdog to win outright this weekend in the NFL, and my bets are a good mix of Joey's and Pete's picks...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 5-2/Overall 32-24-2)

Chiefs 24  Titans 17 - Titans (+9)/Under 44.5 - The Chiefs are very tough at home, but covering 9 won't be easy...
Falcons 28  Rams 27 - Falcons (+5.5)/Over 48 - As a reward for an incredible season, the Rams get to host the team who had a 28-3 lead in last year's Super Bowl.  I have to go with the experience on the Falcons side...
Jaguars 24  Bills 21 - Bills (+9)/Over 39 - McCoy is still questionable as we go to press, but I expect a close game as two good defenses clash.  However, 39 is just such a low total...
Saints 28  Panthers 24 -  Panthers (+6.5)/Over 47.5 - It's hard to pick against Brees & Company in New Orleans, but I envision another close game here...
Alabama 26  Georgia 17 - Alabama (-4)/Under 44.5 - I'd rather see Georgia win, but like last week, I think that Bama just has too much defense...

And that's all my friends.  As always, our picks are for entertainment purposes only, but enjoy them and have a great football weekend!

Football (2017-18) - Week 18

Good morning everyone.  The football season and 2017 are winding down, but we've got the big games ahead of us.  It's gonna be hard to top New Mexico State's first bowl victory in 57 years, but we'll serve up our picks.  Congratulations Joey!  :)  Our alumnus from New Mexico State will lead things off as each of us give you our favorite seven bets for this weekend.  Four bets will be extracted from our score predictions for the college football semifinal playoff games, plus our three favorite random picks.  Without any further ado, here's Joey...

I like all favorites this week, which is against a lot of what I know about sports betting.  I know you see one dog, but they are the number one rated team and should be the favorite.  Enjoy the games...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 0-3/Overall 21-28-2)

Georgia 38  Oklahoma 28
Clemson 41  Alabama 21

Georgia (-2) vs. Oklahoma
Georgia/Oklahoma (Over 60)
Clemson (+3) vs. Alabama
Clemson/Alabama (Over 47)
Wisconsin (-6) vs. Miami
Redskins (-3) @ Giants
Bills (-2.5) @ Dolphins

Come by the all new Palace Station Race and Sportsbook, and may all your parlays cash!

Joey likes the favorites and he doesn't like the teams from Miami...  Joey and Pete have several bets in common this week.  The last time that we picked exact scores in this blog, Pete nailed the exact score of the Super Bowl.  No pressure Pete...  :)

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Overall 14-34-2)

Georgia 31  Oklahoma 28
Clemson 38  Alabama 31

Georgia (-2) vs. Oklahoma
Georgia/Oklahoma (Under 60)
Clemson (+3) vs. Alabama
Clemson/Alabama (Over 47)
Redskins (-3) @ Giants
Panthers (-3.5) @ Falcons
Seahawks (-9.5) vs. Cardinals

You'll see some differences in bets as we get to my group, despite what I want to see happen in Clemson/Alabama, Part III.  I also included a few totals, since I never do...  ;)

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-1/Overall 27-22-2)

Georgia 30  Oklahoma 23 - I think the Bulldogs defense will give the Sooners problems, and now Mayfield has a mystery ailment...
Alabama 26  Clemson 20 - Saban has had a month to prepare for the Tigers this time, and unlike the last two meetings, Watson won't be in the Tigers backfield...

Georgia (-2) vs. Oklahoma
Georgia/Oklahoma (Under 60)
Alabama (-3) vs. Clemson
Alabama/Clemson (Under 47)
Jets/Patriots (Under 43.5) - I'm rooting for the arctic storm to play some defense...
Redskins/Giants (Under 39.5) - I'm rooting for the arctic storm to play some defense...
Bengals/Ravens (Under 40) - I'm rooting for..., you know...  #arcticstorm

And that's all my friends.  Remember that our picks are for entertainment purposes only, and have a great football weekend and safe New Year's celebration everyone!

Football (2017-18) - Week 17

Good morning everyone.  Our group went 4-3-2 last week as both Joey and I had the Steelers (+3) for a tie, but we still trail Pete by one in that category.  For those of you who haven't taken a close look at the schedule for this weekend, we have two NFL games on both Saturday and Monday (Christmas), but there's no Sunday night game following the daytime action.  There is a Sunday night college bowl game however, in addition to a trio of bowl games on Saturday.  As always, our picks are for entertainment purposes only, and as always, Joey will lead things off...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-1-1/Overall 21-25-2)

San Diego State (-6.5) vs. Army
Browns (+6.5) @ Bears
Bills (+11.5) @ Patriots

I actually received Joey's picks last this week, but Pete and I both share a bet in common with Joey (although they're different bets).  :)  Next up is Pete, who was our wins leader for last week (in addition to throwing strikes in the first nine frames of a league game last Monday).  At about this time last year, Pete bowled his first career 300 game.  Back to football, the tall lefty has three NFL picks for you this weekend...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 2-1/Overall 13-32-3)

Browns (+6.5) @ Bears
Cowboys (-5) vs. Seahawks
Steelers (-9) @ Texans

Like my brother, I've also got three NFL bets for you this weekend, and as always, I'll pick up the slack on betting totals...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-1-1/Overall 25-21-2)

Vikings/Packers (Under 41) - Vikings defense, no Rodgers, and potentially some nasty primetime weather at Lambeau Field...
Bills (+11.5) @ Patriots - The Bills are still alive in the playoff hunt, and will likely play inspired with Gronkowski's cheap shot still fresh in their minds...
Raiders/Eagles (Under 47) -  Eagles defense, no Wentz, and potentially some nasty primetime weather in Philly...

And that's all my friends.  Have a great football weekend and a very Merry Christmas!

Football (2017-18) - Week 16

Good morning everyone.  You're getting our picks really early compared to last week boys and girls.  :)  As it turns out, our group went 7-2 overall in what I thought was a very difficult NFL week to predict, and had the Patriots covered, we would have gone 8-1.  Pete should have known though, taking Tom Brady against the great Jay Cutler...  We'll begin with Joey, who went 3-0 last week and is storming back toward the .500 mark...

Joey's Parlay Card (Last Week 3-0/Overall 20-24-1)

Three is the magic number this week...

Packers (+3) @ Panthers
Bills (-3) vs. Dolphins
Steelers (+3) vs. Patriots

May all of your parlays cash, and may Sunday be full of threes...

Pete is our leader in ties, and Joey is putting himself in the best possible position to gain on him this week...  :)  Pete is the only one of us who favors any of the college bowl bets this weekend...

Pete's Parlay Card (Last Week 1-2/Overall 11-31-3)

Troy (-7) vs. North Texas
Arkansas State (-3) vs. Middle Tennessee State
Chiefs (+1) vs. Chargers

Okay, if you twist my arm, I'll pick some totals...

Coach's Parlay Card (Last Week 3-0/Overall 24-20-1)

Chargers/Chiefs (Under 46) - Chargers D has been playing well, Chiefs O hasn't, and weather could play a factor in this night game...
Rams/Seahawks (Under 47.5) - The Eagles were stifled in Seattle recently, so I don't think the under is too much of a stretch here...
Steelers (+3) vs. Patriots - I'd feel better if Shazier was playing, but the Steelers do have Bell this time around...

And that's all my friends.  We're in the college bowl season, just nine days til Christmas, and the NFL playoffs will be upon us soon.  As always, remember that our picks are for entertainment purposes only, and have a great football weekend!
